 | “Dagdag
        bayarin, ROTC buwagin !!!”
           This
is a call for all the Filipino cadets in the Philippines, let us all be
united and join the campaign for the abolition of the ROTC training in
the Philippines. Enough is enough, ROTC is just a waste of money, source
of corruption, waste of time and most of all it violates our human
rights. So please support the campaign for the
        abolition
        of ROTC. |

      | July
        22, 2002 - Militant student groups will
participate in the President's State of the Nation Address. One of the
student militant group's agenda includes the issue of the NSTP. |

      | Remembering
what happened on July 1, 2001

         On
July 1, 2001, thousands of college students and cadets staged a mass
walkout from their ROTC training to show their dismay, their hate and to
call for the immediate abolition of the ROTC training. Cadets from
different colleges and universities from Metro Manila participated in
the mass walkout which was led by student groups and other
organizations. “Dagdag bayarin, ROTC buwagin!” and “Abolish
ROTC!” became the battle cry of the cadets this day.   One
year after the July 1, 2001 mass walkout

It is now exactly 1 year since the mass walkout for the
abolition of ROTC, have you guys forgotten the real reasons why we
participated in the mass walkout? Is NSTP the answer to all this useless
junk? They said that NSTP is also known as Optional ROTC therefore,
students should have alternatives and choices but why are they still
being forced to take the military training? Is this the essence of
Optional ROTC? Male students have no choice but to enroll military
training (MTS) because of the small quota allotted for the LES and the
CWS. Are we going to totally forget all the anomalies and all the
questions, which were left unanswered regarding the ROTC training?

      | Goodbye
ROTC ! Hello NSTP ? Women students obliged to take NSTP?

         The
government has already completed the plans that will facilitate the
implementation of the National Service Training Program (NSTP) which
will replace the current ROTC program. NSTP will be mandating all
freshman college level students to become cadets who will be trained
under the National Service Training Program, starting school year
2002-2003. The program also prescribes that women students will also be
mandated to take the said course. |
